Launch & Brace v0.4.0 #
Launch #
- When a defending creature is hit with a non-spell melee attack, that deals an amount of damage 5 points or higher than their AC, they must make a strength saving throw with a DC of 10 or half the damage they take, whichever number is higher. On a failed save they are sent flying and forcibly move in the opposite direction from which they were hit. For every 5 points of damage they took they are moved 5ft.
- Additionally, the DC of the strength save increase by 5 for every size larger the attacker is than the defender.
- Creatures that are prone are immune to this effect.
- If the target that is Launched collides with a surface see Movement for the collision rulings.
Brace #
- You can reinforce another friendly creature’s position.
- If an ally within 5 feet of you is targeted with an effect that would cause them to be Launched, knocked Prone, or moved against their will, then you can use your Reaction to steady them, and they aren’t Launched, knocked Prone, or moved.
Positioning Rules Notes:
- Three-quarters cover bonus gives same bonus as base 5e shield spell.
- Flanking Optional Rule provides advantage too easily and causes combat to become more static and predictable (but not in an interesting way).
